Shrujan ‘Morlo’ Black Hand Embroidered Silk Potli

Shrujan's ‘Morlo’ black hand embroidered silk potli has been embroidered by the women of the mochi community from the Kutch region of Gujarat. The Aari embroidery is done using an 'awl'. It is the only embroidery that uses just one stitch- a very fine, flat and longish saankdi stitch. Each motif is embroidered in gradations of a single colour which creates a subtle effect, much like a painting done with watercolours.
